Common Questions

Questions we are often asked

What does an initial pension position review involve?

The review examines the pension scheme under which your entitlement arises, your contribution record as it appears in available statements, and any correspondence from your employer or the administering body. At the end, we prepare a written summary in plain language that sets out what is known, what remains uncertain, and what additional documents might be worth gathering if you wish to proceed further.

How long does a contribution dispute engagement typically take?

This depends on the complexity of the record and the responsiveness of the administering body. In straightforward cases, written submissions can be prepared within four to six weeks of receiving the necessary documents. Matters involving administrative hearings may extend across several months. We keep clients informed at each stage so there are no unexpected developments.

Can I engage Pensarae on behalf of a parent or elderly relative?

Yes. A significant portion of our advisory work involves clients who are helping a parent, spouse, or sibling navigate pension arrangements. The engagement begins with understanding the family context and the relative's own wishes. Written materials are prepared in language suitable for sharing directly with the family member if they wish to read them.

What information should I bring to a first meeting?

Any correspondence you have received from your pension scheme, employer, or EPF; recent contribution statements if available; and a note of any specific concern or question you wish to address. If documents are incomplete or unavailable, that is not an obstacle to the first meeting — identifying what is missing is often part of the initial work.

Are the fees fixed, or might additional costs arise?

The fees published for each service reflect the scope described. Where a matter develops in a direction that requires work beyond that scope — for example, if a dispute proceeds to a formal hearing not initially anticipated — we would discuss the implications with you before proceeding. There are no charges that arise without a prior conversation.

Is my pension information handled confidentially?

All information shared with us is treated with professional discretion and handled in accordance with applicable data protection requirements in Malaysia. Your documents and correspondence are not shared with any party other than those directly involved in your matter, and only with your knowledge.
